Introduction

Welcome to the official website of the civil association Viktorija.

The mission and main goal of our organisation is social, economic and educational development of the community. So far, more than 150 minor and mayor projects have been implemented, aided by donors ( ECHO, UNICEF, OXFAM, IOCC, Help Age International, EAR, European Commission, Handicap International, BCIF, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, etc.).

Our target groups are the following:

1.The elderly in urban and rural areas
2.The unemployed
3.The disabled
4.Children and youth
5.Socially vulnerable categories of population ( Re, IDPs, Roma, etc. )


Public works programme

What is a public works programme?

Public works programme represents a measure of active employment of socially vulnerable categories of population. Public works programme was implemented for the first time in Serbia in 2005, through a project by the EAR, carried out by geronto-housewives.
Since 2006, public works programme of geronto-housewives has been funded by Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

Some of the activities implemented by geronto-housewives include:

1. Providing personal and household hygiene services 2. Acquisition ( of food, medications, etc. )
3. Utility bill payment
4. Accompaniment services, assistance at medical examinations, when needed
5. Psycho-social support.

Currently, 32 persons are employed through public works programme, providing services of help and support to the elderly living in Central Serbia. 268 beneficiaries are using the services of the programme, receiving 12 000 per month ( household and personal hygiene, acquisition, assistance, etc. )

Groups for self-help

What is a group for self-help ?

Groups for self-help of the elderly represent a new social model for improving the quality of life of the elderly, based on volunteering and the power of association of the elderly themselves.

The group for self-help consists of 10 elderly people who have established social contact and provide mutual help and support.

The groups are formed both in urban and rural areas.

Activities of the groups for self-help:

- Providing direct help to the groups members
- Combating social isolation of the elderly
- Advocating and lobbying for solutions of the problems of the elderly
- Establishing dialogue and contact with representatives of local authorities and institutions
- Implementation of the activities
- Establishing links to other groups for self-help
- Psychological support among the members of the group – socializing and recreational activities ( daytrips and celebrations )
- Contribution to the decrease in age discrimination

Educational programmes

NGO Viktorija is a certified local training provider of educational programmes.The certificate was issued by the European Agency for Reconstruction ( EAR ). Educational programmes are implemented according to the competency-based curriculum.
For the past 3 years, NGO Viktorija has been implementing non-formal educational programmes in the domain of crafts occupations for IDPs, in cooperation with Fund for micro-development.The persons participating in these educational programmes are the ones seeking retraining in order to get an employment.
